Isabella, good idea to remind everyone and stress how having goals is only useful if you track your progress.

I kept my goals simple- I was a few days late meeting the first one but there's a very high chance that I'll be early in meeting the second one, so I'm excited about that.

I also like the acronym, it works nicely with my own post about job search goals:

oh, forgot to add that I had three bloggers who guest wrote for iBit, including you ;)
(you should consider adding AJAX Edit comments plugin here) ;)

Isabella, thanks for making me to go back and review what goals did I have for Inspiration Bit's 2nd year of blogging.

I've accomplished some, still trying to accomplish others, and failed at some.
I wished for a successful outcome of the Mega Project, and more or less it turned out pretty good. I wanted to do more guest blogging and invite more bloggers, and so far I did one guest post for RA Project and two for Typesites, which brought more readers and more prominence to me and my blog.

I failed at posting three times a week. I now doubt that I can ever achieve that unless I start posting just for the sake of frequent posting, which I don't want to do. For awhile I'll stick to once a week posting, and hopefully will later increase to twice a week.

I'm still not done with iBit's re-design, this is one urgent goal that I hope to tackle very soon. I wanted to introduce more weekly features to my blog, and I partially did that. I've launched three series: Design Elements, Exquisite Typography and Design Critique. I did start with weekly DOs and DON'Ts articles, but stopped after three weeks. I'll get back to them, but I won't be having them as weekly features again.

As for having a more clear focus for Inspiration Bit, I think I'm heading in the right direction now, I've got more plans for it, so stay tuned ;)

One goal I've overachieved is doubled my RSS subscribers, I'm pleased about it, but there's definitely more work needs to be done to take iBit to the next level.

isabella,

Since my blog is for fun, I said in my post I didn't want to set goals because I didn't want blogging to turn into work. I planned to write one series a month, which I've done except for one especially busy month. Other than that, my plans were "to continue to make friends, carry on conversations with them, and have fun!" And that I have done.

Dear Isabella thank-you so much for this follow up post. When I first saw the trackback I thought it was another scraper site. Then when I read the post I realized you are right and the SMART goal setting is the way to go. Anyway when I went back and read my goals I actually have either accomplished most of them or have made a lot of progress in accomplishing them. For instance one goal was to learn Photoshop, I've learned a lot about Photoshop and I use it all the time, but I still have more to learn, the same with some of my coding goals. But as for measurable things like publish to an article directory and learn how to create a header banner I have done these things. I know goal setting is powerful, and it is something I'm constantly trying to implement in my life. Once again great post.
