Hi Sylvie

great to meet you here - although it would be nicer if it happened under different circumstances.

It's interesting to hear about your situation. Similar to what happened out East, maybe?

I write a Frozen Pea post each week, on different blogs. This one is today's, about Tamoxifen. Would love to hear your opinion on it. Maybe we can co-ordinate a few Frozen Pea posts?

Hi Isabella!

I am so glad you posted this. As a breast cancer survivor, I've discovered that the current screening tests for breast cancer are not nearly as good as they purport to be. My own doctor completely misdiagnosed me when I discovered my own lump. She thought it was "just a fluid pocket" and "nothing to worry about". If there was a test available with just saliva, it might have been different.

But because my doctor passed it off as "nothing serious", it was left undiagnosed for another 2 whole months, enough time for it to spread to my lymph nodes and become life threatening. Uggh!

So, thank you for letting us know about the saliva screening research. That is really exciting news!

Incidentally, after my experiences with being misdiagnosed, I decided to go public with my own blog about all my experiences with breast cancer. You can read about me by clicking on my name on this post.

Have a wonderful day!

Sylvie

Isabella, that cat photo has me grinning today -- thanks!

Very interesting information on the development of saliva testing for breast cancer screening. These tests have been available for other purposes and they are very convenient and easy to use. There's a testing kit with instructions for how to perform the test at home -- basically, it's spitting into a container -- and then mailing it to the lab for results.

That idea has me thinking ahead to a future project for the Frozen Pea Fund: raising money to make those kits available to women who need them.

Connie Reece's last blog post..Five White Men Talk About Social Media
